Mismatched Planes Thread

All about Airlines and Airliners.

How about a thread for planes with mismatched paint? This could cover cowlings and noses of a different paint, as well as hybrid liveries (titles don't match the fuselage, remnants of a previous paint, etc.).

Do intentional mismatches qualify?

:))

As a more serious contribution - AA's Astrojet with a clown nose, taken in MIA in 2010:

I saw a photo, a day or two ago, of a BA 777 with a Vietnam Airlines engine cowling. That's seemed pretty random.

Anyway, I don't have that photo so here's my contribution...

Sven Grimpe has compiled an album of mismatches:

From my own collection, a Sunday Southside at MAN saw one TCX A332 in the old blue scheme rocking an inlet cowl in the new colour scheme:

Immediately followed by a TCX A332 in the new scheme only with the exact same component in old colours:

That must drive any OCD folks at TCX mad!

A Spirit mismatch:

There have been 100s of photos of AA 737s in the old livery with a new silver nose cone over the last few years.

One of my older pictures. LTU with a green door:

Or this one: Ukraine Airlines logo on a basic Sky Airlines c/s

Does that count too?

A Gol / Transavia mix:

I wish I had a picture of an old C-182 that the Freefall Ranch in GA used to have. It was called "Patches" and had been literally built from 5-6 different crashed airframes and then not repainted. Ugly as hell but a nice aircraft overall.

Coincidentally, I saw it from my flight to Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago:

A couple of recent ones of mine:

Raiding either the Wizz or WOW parts bin!

Door courtesy of Jet2.

Spend long enough at LHR and you'll always see BA A32x's with plain grey cowlings - I assume they are put on in a hurry without being painted or come from some common source.

This one picked up a white nose cone sometime in 2016:

Another Spirit that had a white nose cone at one point:

Another candidate to add to this list, taken by Sven Timmerbeil: Small Planet Airlines titles with partial Afriqiyah Airways livery.

There were loads of mismatches at MAN this weekend, I'm sure there will be plenty uploaded.

I'm sure this guy has been re-painted a few years ago, but it was cool (and confusing) when I saw it:

Sun Country used to take a lot of Transavia aircraft on lease for the European off-season. Aircraft that would otherwise be parked for the winter are cheap to lease to the point where some airlines schedule their maintenance around the availability of these aircraft (the Sunwing/TUI arrangement being another example).
